ALPES-MARITIMES VILLA

Provence, France

An all-encompassing project embracing architecture, landscaping, interiors and custom furniture, this new villa fuses a contemporary aesthetic with contextual and vernacular influences. Situated on a green hillside, the new house – made from local stone and topped by a terracotta tiled roof – enjoys open views across the countryside and towards the coast. Enticing outdoor rooms form an essential part of the project, with a pergola and a pavilion positioned close to the sculpted swimming pool, which has been crafted in black granite.

The main house which overlooks the pool and gardens, features its own fresh air spaces, with dining and seating zones hosted within a long verandah. Designed by former partner Andrzej Zarzycki, the interiors have a contemporary quality that draws upon the textural warmth of honest, natural materials. The double height sitting room sits at the heart of the building, with a stone staircase rising to one side. A collection of contemporary art adds colour and interest throughout, including spaces such as the dining room and the master bathroom, which features a kinetic modern sculpture floating over the Japanese-style soaking tub.
